Our Vision

Our vision is to use Kaur Life to build a world that empowers Kaurs with self-confidence and the spirit of Sikhi to embrace challenges and pursue their dreams. We want a world where Kaurs are supported and celebrated in every aspect of life and we believe Kaur Life has a role to play in this. We want Kaur Life to ensure that Kaurs are steadfast, solid, and safe in their identities as Sikhs and that Kaurs have the opportunity to live up to their full potential.

With your help we can expand Kaur Life to reach more Kaurs with more engaging content and great programing.

Our Plan for 2024

With you as part of our supportive team, we want to take Kaur Life to the next level. As we grow beyond our website, here's all we're looking to expand to: 

• Publish more articles
• Host gurbani vichars, webinars, discussions, seva projects, book clubs, retreats, and more!
• Support Sikhs in our sangats along their professional journey and make them a part of Kaur Life as we grow online and provide more for Kaurs
• Make more resources accessible and helpful to Kaurs and Sikhs around the world

Kaur Life’s Next Phase: Staff 

For us to be able to further increase our ability for these efforts, we need funds to increase our part-time staff capacity.

1.  Our immediate goal is to use new funding to create two part-time staff positions and hire two individuals who will work with the Editor-In-Chief (EIC) to increase the reception, circulation, and readership of Kaur Life.

2.  These positions – a Social Media Manager and a Magazine Editor – will work with the EIC to expand what Kaur Life is able to offer while also ensuring that Kaur Life continues to publish quality articles for its community.

These positions will help Kaur Life continue to meet the needs of its core and historic audience even as we expand to reach new audiences and needs.

Our Story So Far (2-minute read)

Kaur Life was established in 2014 because we knew that Kaurs were, and still are, geographically scattered around the world. We saw how this was making it hard for them to connect and create community with each other. Kaurs wanted to grow their relationship with their Guru and with their sangats.

It was in response to this yearning that Kaur Life emerged as an online magazine striving to be the premier Kaur & Sikh women’s publication to facilitate this connection. Our work is infused with Gurmat, and it is tailored for young Kaurs, Sikh women, and Sikhs of all gender backgrounds. We hope to be a space where everyone can express their ideas, share stories, and learn more about their Sikh culture to empower themselves.

Kaur Life has made it its mission to provide Kaurs with resources to guide them on their Sikh journey. We provide a platform for Kaurs to share their ideas and exchange questions and comments by capturing and documenting narratives, experiences, and histories of Kaurs. We do this by featuring Kaur stories to inspire other Kaurs and let them know they are not alone. At Kaur Life, we develop thought-provoking articles that facilitate discussion on Kaur-issues from a variety of diverse perspectives because we know that there is no singular Kaur experience. Through our work online and discussing issues that affect Kaurs in the modern world, we create a community of belonging and friendship of Kaurs that facilitates growth, partnership, and teamwork.

Where We're Headed

We are now at a stage where Kaurs are telling us how much they have appreciated having these conversations with other Kaurs because this was not something they had when they were growing up or raising their own families. And importantly, as Kaurs are more empowered and find sangat through Kaur Life, we have found that Kaur Life can do so much more to meet Kaurs’ growing needs today.

As Kaur Life grows with your support to meet these growing needs among Kaurs, we have five fundamental values that guide our actions: integrity, courage, open-mindedness, compassion, and gratitude. We try to acknowledge the gifts and opportunities they have provided us in order to make Kaur Life a reality.
