In the past three years, we have brought to you eight books (five board books and three hardcovers), the first ever Punjabi/English/Romanized, illustrated folktales that awed children and their parents alike. We are working tirelessly to raise the level and continue the book series for our elementary grade children (5-12 yrs).
On Vaisakhi 2018, we plan to launch next three fully colored illustrated books, that will extend the hardcover series. Each book will be hardbound, with appx. forty-five pages of fun that will transport you to the land of Punjab.
The purpose of this project is two folds:
- Expand children's association with the Punjabi language and Gurmukhi script to their everyday life via ancient folk stories beautifully retold in captivating picture books.
- Preserve ancient folktales of Punjab that have been handed down from generations orally but are dying due to lack of focused effort to document and share them.
But our biggest goal is to make children fall in love with these books. We want to give them a sense of joy and pride in their Mother Language. Something that has been missing from the Punjabi literature scene worldwide. We have made it happen before and we will continue doing that with your support.
These tales will be full of life lessons, preserve authentic Punjabi language, life style, flora, and fauna in vivid illustrations that children will get attracted to and absorb effortlessly. These stories are told poetically so children will memorize them easily and intuitively expand their vocabulary.
They are also great tools for grandparents to connect to their younger generations. They make excellent text books for Punjabi Schools worldwide.
