Tragedy struck when the family got separated and in 1704 when Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh Ji, the young sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, were captured along with Mata Gujri Ji by Mughal forces The cruel separation of her other 2 grandchildren and son affected Mata Gujri Ji deeply. Mata Gujri Ji and the two sahibzade were imprisoned in Sirhind fort.
Conditions in the cold and rainy weather were harsh , despite the difficult circumstances, her faith remained steadfast. She continued to teach the teachings of Sikhism to his grandchildren and ensured that they remained firm in their faith.
The Sacrifice of Chote Sahibzade
The most heartbreaking moment in Mata Gujri Ji's life came with the martyrdom of her grandsons Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh Ji.
The young Sahibzads, aged 9 and 7, were unjustly imprisoned by the Mughals and subjected to unimaginable cruelty. The strength and determination of Mata Gujri Ji was a source of inspiration to them during their trials.
Her own sacrifice
