A Documentary on Guru Nanak's Travels Across 9 Nations
(Production in collaboration with SIKHLENS Destination S program)
To spread the message of humanity, Guru Nanak covered a large geographical tapestry. In the 21st century this area comprises of 9 nations: Pakistan, India, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan. To break barriers across faiths by engaging in spiritual dialogues, Guru Nanak visited more than 150 Islamic, Sufi and Hindu sites to seek and impart spiritual wisdom. However, today, the narrative stands limited to a few gurdwaras.
Thus, today, there is a compelling need to explore and film the sites visited by Guru Nanak so that the faded memories can be kept alive. This appeal is to support the filming cost of 150+ interfaith sites associated with Guru Nanak's travels across 9 nations.
The team has already completed the filming in Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Iran, Tibet, Iraq, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka.
This will be a multi-episode documentary, approximately 900 min in total length.
The project is currently in a 12 month post-production phase, entailing editing, color correction, grading, sound management and translation into Punjabi and Hindi.
The total cost for this 3 year project is USD 1M. The team needs to raise additional USD 85K to manage the Post production expenses.
Amardeep Singh, from Singapore, is leading this project. He has a proven track record of developing unique and monumental works. Most noteworthy are Amardeep's two books entitled 'LOST HERITAGE The Sikh Legacy in Pakistan' and 'THE QUEST CONTINUES: LOST HERITAGE The Sikh Legacy in Pakistan', in which he has explored the remnants of the Sikh legacy in 126 cities and villages in Pakistan, including many places where the community has had no access for seven decades. Amardeep has also produced two visual film documentaries 'PEERING SOUL' and 'PEERING WARRIOR', which present his field explorations across Pakistan.
