Our dear Harbhajan Singh was a pillar of the New Jersey community for over 40 years. He was a devout Sikh and an integral part of the local gurudwara community. He was special to many for countless reasons.
He was a family man and his greatest accomplishment was being a father to his four children that he raised together with his wife Surjeet. He also greatly loved his eleven grandchildren and could often be found sharing his love by making them their favorite breakfast, picking them up from school, and attending their sports games.
He was a role model to many and lived his life by example of the tenets of the Sikh faith. Starting his day early every morning in remembrance of God (naam japna), he was smart, honest and worked very hard in his career and establishing himself and his family as an early immigrant to the US in 1969 (kirat karni), and all while never forgetting to help and give back to those in need (vand chakna). He accomplished so much in his 84 years that no words can do him justice. Those who knew him were fortunate to encounter such a kind and gentle soul.
Education in any form was important to him. He encouraged all his kids to go for higher studies. He also cared deeply about furthering Sikh education for young adults in the community, as well as promoting the Sikh identity and understanding amongst the larger community.
We are honored to have a Dad so great as him. We are also humbled by those wishing to give a donation in his honor. Those who wish to donate can do so through this page. All proceeds will be given towards the Sikh Sabha of NJ, where he attended regularly and gave his time, and other Sikh educational causes. Thank you 🙏
