Sikh Human Development Foundation (SHDF), a non-profit organization, set up in 1999, helps bright but financially disadvantaged students in Punjab and neighboring areas to rise to their full potential through higher education and training.
SHDF has provided over 5,700 scholarships so far. Our goal for 2018-19 is to award no less than 650 scholarships. We are reaching out to the DVN online community to join us as we continue with our mission of transforming lives through higher education.
By improving the access of underprivileged youth to higher education and making it possible for them to become doctors, engineers, tech experts and the like, we seek to minimize their frustration, anger and their potential drift to drugs, alcoholism, or crime. Every student helped is not only a life transformed, but it is also uplifting the entire family and eventually transforming the nature and the status of the civil society in Punjab and other states wherever SHDF operates.
A lump sum or a monthly donation (Dasvandh) of $20, 30 or 50 (or any amount - remember no amount is too small) will go a long way in helping us to carry out our goal.
A rapidly rising number of eligible students are putting their faith in SHDF and seeking financial help.
SHDF thanks all donors for their valuable contributions. The challenge is rather big, and we need wider and broader community support.
Education has a transforming power and a multiplier effect.
If they succeed, we all succeed. We need your help. They need your help.
