  2025–26 SHDF Scholarship Round Successfully Completed

  
  The 2025–26 SHDF Scholarship round has been completed with a record number of scholarships awarded, well exceeding 1,700 students.

  These students, many of whom are among the brightest in their institutions but come from families facing serious economic hardship, represent more than 150 colleges, including several leading colleges across Punjab.

  Scholarship distribution ceremonies are currently underway across Punjab and Chandigarh through our partner, the Sikh Educational Society (SES), a highly respected educational institution. Many more distribution events are expected in the coming weeks.

  Scholarship Distributions
   Students received their scholarship checks at ceremonies held at:

  Khalsa College, Garhshankar
  Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Pharmacy, Chandigarh
  Sikh National College, Banga
  At one of the ceremonies, students displayed banners thanking SHDF for “giving wings to their dreams.”

  These scholarship distribution events have also received coverage in prominent newspapers in Punjab, including Ajit.

  SHDF Chairman’s Visit to India

  
  SHDF Chairman Dr. Manmohan Singh Kumar recently visited India and held productive meetings with scholarship recipients, students, the SHDF team in Chandigarh, Vice Chancellors, college Principals, educational institutions, donors, and representatives from private companies.

  During the visit, he had meaningful one-on-one interactions with several students, offering encouragement, mentorship, and support.

  He also explored internship and employment opportunities for SHDF students, particularly with companies working in the AI and technology sectors, and met with institutions providing vocational training.

  There was strong appreciation for the SHDF Scholarship Program and its role in transforming the lives of financially disadvantaged but talented and hardworking students, as well as their families and communities.

  A large number of applications have already been received within a short period, reflecting the continued need for financial assistance to help students pursue higher education.

  Recent Updates

  We would like to share some important developments and our near-term goals with you.

  First, we would like to express our deep gratitude for your continued invaluable Seva. Your support has been critical in fulfilling SHDF’s mission—empowering the neediest yet highly motivated and talented students across Punjab and neighboring areas to achieve their dreams through higher education, mentorship, and hope.

  The past year has been one of the most impactful in SHDF’s history. We awarded 1,624 college scholarships, bringing our total to over 13,000 since inception. Over 70% of our students come from families earning less than $100 per month; nearly three-quarters are young women; and two-thirds are from rural areas. Each scholarship represents a life-changing opportunity.

  This year, our partnership with the Sikh Educational Society (SES) of Chandigarh and Faridkot is enabling SHDF to reach even more deserving and capable students. As noted earlier, SES is a premier educational organization managing several leading institutions, including Dasmesh Dental College, Dasmesh Institutes of Nursing and Pharmacy, and Sri Guru Gobind Singh College for Women. It also works closely with premier universities such as Guru Nanak Dev University, Punjabi University, and Panjab University, along with several hundred affiliated colleges.

  Furthermore, SHDF and SES have established ten regional centers—Amritsar Sahib, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Mastuana Sahib, Faridkot, Banga, Hoshiarpur, Ambala, and New Delhi—ensuring accessibility for students across the region.

  We have also introduced a fully online scholarship application system. This has made the process more accessible for students in both rural and urban areas, streamlined application reviews, and enhanced transparency. We are pleased to share that this year we have received over 3,100 eligible applications—a record.

  Based on need and merit, over the next few weeks we aim to equal or exceed the number of scholarships awarded last year. In addition, we are expanding initiatives to support students in preparing for meaningful careers, including soft-skills workshops and industry partnerships.
