Sikh Learning Center: Ensuring No Sikh Family Is Ever Turned Away

A 501(c)(3) project by Sikh Family Hub

Across the Sikh diaspora, families are facing a crisis that rarely gets spoken about: Punjabi and Gurmat are fading from our homes, youth are disconnected from Sikhi, and parents are struggling without culturally-informed guidance in parenting, mental health, and identity-building. Here is a brief video that explains our project goals and vision in brief.

Every week, families from across the world reach out asking for help:

“My child can’t read Gurmukhi.”
“We can’t afford Punjabi classes, but we want to learn as a family.”
“My teenager or a family member is struggling with anxiety and identity confusion.”
“We want Gurmat-based parenting support but don’t know where to go.”

We saw a reality we could not ignore: many families want to learn, grow, and stay connected to Sikhi, but simply cannot even afford even a low program fee.

Turning anyone away would not align with the path of seva.

That is why we launched the Sikh Learning Center, a registered nonprofit project dedicated to ensuring every Sikh family has access to Punjabi, Gurmat, and wellness education, regardless of financial barriers.

Why This Project Matters

1. We are preserving Sikh identity for the next generation. Punjabi fluency, Gurmukhi literacy, Sikh history, and understanding of Gurbani are essential for long-term Panthic strength. Families want these skills, but affordability and access are major obstacles.

2. We are building the first Holistic Sikh Education System for families. Our platform integrates:

  • Punjabi & Gurmukhi classes
  • Sikh history & Gurmat understanding
  • Parenting support
  • Mental and emotional health
  • Nutrition, wellness, and family education
  • All in one place, designed for diaspora realities.

3. We are supporting families who would otherwise be left behind.
Single mothers, newcomers, refugee families, students, and low-income households contact us every week. Many cannot pay even minimal fees but need urgent support.

4. We are creating long-term Panthic infrastructure, not short-term fixes.
This project includes building a full Course Management System (LMS) to host:

  • Self-paced Punjabi and Gurmukhi learning
  • Gurmat-aligned parenting courses
  • Mental health, trauma, and wellness programs
  • Low-cost “Pay-What-You-Want” digital courses
  • Free seminars for the Sangat
  • This ensures scalability and global access for decades.

Why We Need Your Support This Week
Dasvandh Week begins on November 14th at 9 AM PST, and donations made then will be MATCHED, doubling the impact.

Our goal is to raise $30,000 to support:

1. Sponsorships for families who cannot afford fees: No child or parent should ever be turned away from learning Punjabi, understanding Gurbani, or accessing parenting support.

2. Building the global Sikh Learning Management System(LMS): A professional platform to host Punjabi, Gurmat, and family education, accessible worldwide.

3. Course creation & content development: Editing, design, filming, curriculum building, and translations to make courses high-quality and affordable.

4. Expanding the Roots & Wings Sikh Parenting Pod: A foundational parenting resource that blends Gurmat with modern psychology for today’s families.

How Matching Works
If you donate $300 around 9:00 AM PST, DVN will also contribute $300, doubling your impact to $600 toward Sikh family education. Your employer may also offer matching donations. We encourage you to check with your company.

This Is Not Charity, this Is Panthic Infrastructure. Your contribution directly strengthens:

  • Punjabi language preservation
  • Gurmukhi literacy
  • Sikh identity development
  • Parenting resilience
  • Mental & Nutritional Health
  • Connection to Sikhi and Leadership development for future generations

Most importantly, your donation ensures that no Sikh family is ever turned away because of financial difficulties.

What makes our Punjabi program unique:

    1. Gamified activities, interactive worksheets, and animated presentations for long-term engagement

    3. Grounded in Gurbani vocabulary to prepare learners for spiritual literacy
    4. Consistently loved and endorsed by Sangat across the globe

This isn’t just a language course; it’s a movement to restore Sikhi and cultural belonging, intergenerational dialogue, and a direct pathway to understanding Guru Sahib's words.

    Sikh History Courses Level 1-2+

Our Sikhi History Courses are a spiritually rich, family-friendly journey that introduces Sikh belief, history, and practice through a deeply Gurmat-rooted lens, starting from the beginning of time (Big Bang) and culminating in understanding the power of Gurbani as a supreme, self-evident truth.

Designed by a published author, Bhainji Sanmukh Kaur, Prem Ras Kids, tested by a certified educator, and delivered by trained educators, this course brings Sikh history to life through animated slides, age-appropriate Sakhis, reflective journaling, and interactive discussion.

    This course explores:

    1. The creation of the universe and how Naam and Hukam existed before time
    2. What makes Guru Granth Sahib Ji the living Guru, and how Gurbani guides all truth

    4. The compilation of Sri Adi Granth Sahib Ji and the throning of Shabad Guru Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

This course doesn’t just teach facts, it gives learners the spiritual lens to see their entire life through Gurbani.

Sikh Mindset Course (Runs on demand)

This research-informed course empowers Sikh children and teens to develop resilience, clarity, leadership, and inner strength by integrating Gurmat with personal growth tools rooted in neuroscience and grounded in real-life relevance. Rather than only focusing on content knowledge, this course addresses real emotional and mental challenges Sikh youth face today, including fear of judgment, procrastination, personal energy depletion, identity confusion, and time management. Using practical examples from Gurbani and Sikh history, we guide learners through topics like:

    1. Overcoming shyness and stage fright through Sikhi-centred self-worth
    2. Prioritizing spiritual education amid academic pressure
    3. Managing identity conflicts between home values and school culture
    4. Cultivating discipline through daily habits (sleep, food, tech use)
    5. Recognizing the transforming power of Gurbani, Simran, and Sangat

Through interactive discussions, reflective journaling, and example-based exploration of Sakhis and Gurbani, students walk away with confidence, calm, and a clear framework to live Sikhi in today’s world—mentally, physically, and spiritually.

    Dignified Educator Pay Model

At Sikh Learning Center, we believe Panthic service must also be sustainable. That’s why we’ve built a research-informed, Gurmat-aligned compensation model that allocates 90% of tuition fees directly to educators, ensuring that the Gursikh professionals who carry our community’s spiritual and academic legacy are supported with dignity and can continue to use their expertise long term. Rather than relying solely on volunteerism or underpaid labour, we’re cultivating a model that empowers Sikh educators and professionals to thrive financially and spiritually, enabling them to commit to this work long-term without burnout.

We’re not inventing a new system, we’re activating the one Guru Sahib already gave us: Dasvandh. But instead of using it only for physical infrastructure and Langar system, we’re applying it toward human infrastructure, investing in well-trained, values-driven educators, wellness professionals, and curriculum designers who serve the Panth every day and develop future leaders for humanity.

    This model:

    1. Aligns with DVN’s mission to remove resource constraints from grassroots Panthic projects
    2. Brings transparency and structure to where donor dollars go
Supports systemic change, moving from scarcity-based seva to sustainable, professional excellence
    3. Dasvandh is already Sikhi’s economic engine. We’re simply refining the mechanism, so Sikh education isn’t dependent on passion alone but supported by structure.

With Sangat’s support, we can scale this dignified pay model across programs and regions until it becomes fully self-sustainable, ensuring quality, consistency, and longevity in Gurmat education for generations to come.
