The Center for Independent Documentary (CID) was founded in 1981 with a mission to create media that addresses the profound challenges facing our world. We collaborate with independent artists who bring unique vision and compelling storytelling to spark engagement at both personal and community levels. Through partnerships with filmmakers across the United States, we have supported the creation of over 350 films, showcased on platforms such as PBS, HBO, and the Sundance Film Festival. Our projects have earned prestigious accolades, including Oscar nominations, Emmy and Peabody awards, and have garnered substantial support.
