Connecting Children to Their Heritage Through Adventure and Learning
For years, SAF International has supported children from families with limited means, not just through education and essentials, but also by helping them connect with their roots through Camp Chardikala, our Gurmat camp initiative. These past camps have offered space for reflection, learning, and spiritual growth.
But this year’s camp is something entirely new.
We're organizing our first-ever 3-day Camp Chardikala for 60 children that blends Sikh history and identity with outdoor adventure and peer connection, something many of these children have never dreamed possible. It’s more than a camp. It’s a rare opportunity for inspiration and transformation.
For many, this may be their first and only chance to experience something truly special: their first time stepping outside their remote village, their first overnight camp, their first encounter with Sikh history in the very land where it happened, and perhaps their first time feeling genuinely part of a larger, supportive community.
This 3-day camp will leave them with lifelong memories and lessons that shape who they become.
The experience will include:
- A guided spiritual tour of Anandpur Sahib’s historical Gurdwaras
- Sakhi-based learning rooted in Sikh history
- Outdoor adventure activities at Mapple Jungle Adventure Park
- Evening fireside Q&A sessions to reflect and ask questions
- Talks by inspiring speakers
This project matters because it offers more than knowledge, it provides belonging, confidence, and a sense of identity that many of these children are missing in their daily lives.
How can you support
Your support will directly fund a child’s participation—from transportation and meals to activity access, accommodation, and learning materials. Every dollar helps ensure no child is left behind due to financial barriers.
Funds raised will cover:
- Safe transport to and from Anandpur Sahib
- Camp lodging and nutritious meals
- Adventure park activities and equipment
- Educational materials and speaker honorariums
- Supplies for group sessions and fireside discussions
This may be the only camp like this these children ever attend.
Let’s make it unforgettable.
