Gurmat Sangeet Initiative:
The Gurmat Sangeet Initiative was born from the hearts of two UC Davis students, Abjot Kaur and Rasleen Kaur, who shared a dream: to bring the sacred depth and beauty of Gurmat Sangeet back into the lives of our community, especially our youth and college students who have rarely experienced it in its true form.
We wanted to create something different a path that not only preserves Sikh heritage but also reawakens souls to the divine complexity and serenity of Gurbani music.
This initiative is the backbone of a new journey a movement toward reconnecting with our roots, our history, and the spiritual richness within Sikhi.
The Gurmat Sangeet Initiative matters because it preserves and makes accessible the sacred art of Raag-based kirtan, allowing seekers worldwide to connect deeply with Gurbani through authentic musical and spiritual learning.
It protects a vanishing tradition that unites devotion, discipline, and heritage — ensuring that future generations experience the spiritual depth of Gurmat Sangeet, not just as music, but as a living expression of the Guru’s message.
