Lifetime of Memories
A faded photograph, a lifetime of memories. Wrinkled hands hold onto a moment frozen in time—a wedding, a family gathering, a celebration of love before the world was torn apart. This is more than just an image; it is a bridge to a past that still lives in the hearts of those who remember. Though the faces may blur with time, the emotions remain as vivid as ever—a reminder of what was lost and what still endures
Voices of Millions
Her eyes have seen a world torn apart—families separated, homes left behind, and an era forever changed. As she shares her story, she carries the voices of millions who lived through the pain of Partition. This is not just history; it is a memory, a longing, and a reminder that some wounds never fade. Her words, captured on camera, ensure that the past is not forgotten, so future generations may learn, remember, and honor the resilience of those who lived through it
Documentation
This summer, three young volunteers are embracing the endless roadways, lone mountain passes and vibrant cities of North America to seek and document the last remaining stories of Partition. Those survivors who remember are far few, and usually at least eighty or ninety years of age.
Each volunteer plans to collect fifteen stories, and then work with a professional production team and archivist to forever preserve the stories and share them with the world.
For months now, in between classes, on weekends, and after work, they have been training rigorously in California, following the guidelines set forth by the Oral History Association. Each volunteer has conducted between 10 and 100 interviews. Now, they will devote their skills and time to preserving this history for everyone's benefit.
If we do not do this now, who else will? There will be no second chance.
A number of community members are generously providing the volunteers a place to stay, food and lodging. To carry forward this work however, they still require equipment and travel support.
We invite you to contribute to this cause.
After the Partition, these women stood strong, carrying the weight of loss but also the hope of a new beginning. Their presence in this photo is a reminder that even in times of division, courage and unity can help rebuild what was lost. They are not just witnesses of history but survivors who kept moving forward.
