Currently, there is no resource for education professionals in the Sikh community to connect and leverage our personal networks to enable access. The Sikh Professional Educators Network(SPEN) is a collaborative that will fill this niche market.
SPEN seeks to support the growth and development of Sikh educators, create political capital to support awareness and advocacy and promote our youth to become aspiring educators by providing pathways to opportunity and resources. SPEN will be a collaborative of Sikhs in the education space including but not limited to professionals in research, advocacy, school leadership and teacher roles.
The Sikh Professional Educators Network has THREE GOALS:
1) Provide an opportunity for growth development and networking for Sikh educators across the nation
2) Collectively create political capital to support awareness and advocacy
3) Promote our youth to become aspiring educators by providing pathways to opportunity and resources
In order to assess effectiveness, we will track towards the following OUTCOMES:
1) Create a network of at least 30 Sikh education professionals in year 1 (2018)
2) As a network develop a 3 year strategy for how we will best engage and grow in our second and third years
3) Host an annual convening that brings together at least 50% of our members
Phase 1 of our project will help us create the structures necessary to support the launch of the network in order to begin tracking towards our aforementioned outcomes.

Project Update
Thank you for all the support and time people have taken to look into and encourage the grass roots of SPEN organization. Currently we are working on gathering data from professionals of the education field of varying positions. This data will guide SPEN in planning more individualized opportunities and to better organize and plan conferences while offering relevant resources. Parallel to the data collections, we are also in the works of building a website for supporters like you, the general public and perspective colleagues of SPEN of our goals and objectives to better serve the Sikh professionals in education.
