Think back to your college years.

Maybe you found your people at a Gurdwara. Maybe it was a late-night langar with friends who felt like family. Maybe it was a retreat where, for the first time, you understood what it truly meant to be Sikh.

Now imagine a Sikh student on a campus far from home — with no SSA, no sangat, no safe space to belong.

That's the gap we're closing. And we need your help.

Who We Are

For over 10 years, USM's SSA Collective has been the backbone of Sikh Student Associations across the nation — making sure that every Sikh student, on every campus, has a community to call their own.

Sikh Student Associations are more than clubs. They are spaces where identity is strengthened, leadership is born, careers are shaped and lifelong bonds are formed. But without guidance, resources, and support, many SSAs quietly fade — leaving students without the sangat they deserve.

The SSA Collective exists so that never happens.

What We Make Possible

We don't just support SSAs — we build the infrastructure for them to thrive.

  • Grants & Funding for Student-Led Initiatives Because the best ideas come from students themselves — and they deserve the resources to make them real.
  • Resources That Actually Work - SSA Starter Manuals, 100+ event and budgeting templates, and a full library of Sikhi Awareness Materials — pamphlets, videos, and presentations — so SSA leaders can spend less time reinventing the wheel and more time building community.
  • Connections That Open Doors Direct access to major Sikh organizations, mentors, speakers, and opportunities that most students couldn't find on their own.
  • Retreats & Conferences That Transform From regional leadership retreats to inter-SSA conferences rooted in Sikhi and seva — we bring students together in ways that change them. Friendships formed. Leaders shaped. Roots deepened.
  • National Sikh Awareness Campaigns We activate SSAs to educate their campuses about Sikhi — working with universities and institutions to create a world where Sikh students are seen, understood, and respected.
  • Direct, Ongoing Support with SSA Presidents so no leader ever feels alone. Our experienced coordinators bring real-world knowledge — from starting an SSA from scratch to navigating university funding — and pass it down to the next generation.

This Year, Your Dollars Did This
In this school year alone, over $12,600 was poured directly into SSA Collective programming and SSA grants:

Program Investment
West Coast Leadership Retreat -$4,000
Midwest Conference, Leadership Retreat & Book Club - $6,000
SSA Grants to Cover Funding Gaps - $500
SSA Led Professional Development Events - $600
Inter-SSA Professional Development Conference - $1,000
Inter-SSA Student Led Seva Initiatives -$600
Total: $12,700

And this is just the beginning.

There are currently 75 SSAs across the nation — and the need is only growing. To fund regional events, launch new SSAs, and deepen our programming, we need more.

A Message for Our Alumni & Aunties and Uncles

You remember what it felt like — or maybe you wish you'd had this.

The SSA Collective is giving today's Sikh students what many of us never had: a structured, supported, resourced community that holds them through some of the most formative years of their lives.

Your contribution isn't just a donation. It's a bridge between generations. It's you, passing the torch to a 19-year-old who is figuring out what it means to be Sikh, to be a leader, to belong.

The youth are showing up. Will you show up for them?

Give the Gift of Sangat and invest in the next generation of Sikh leaders.

Every dollar goes directly into programming, retreats, resources, and grants that keep SSAs alive and thriving — on campuses across the country.

Gift the Gift of Sangat - Vaisakhi Campaign Live!

    To our SSA Collective family

This season has always been about more than harvest — it's about community coming together, celebrating what's grown, and planting seeds for what's next.

That's exactly what we're doing today.

We're officially launching our Vaisakhi Campaign — and we're coming to you first, because you made everything below possible.

Look What We've Grown Together 🌱
This year alone, your support helped us invest $12,600+ directly into Sikh students across the nation:

    • Nationwide Sikh Awareness Week — 500+ members engaged, 600+ care packages distributed, 33 events across 10 SSAs. Sikh students showing up — and being seen — on campuses everywhere.
    • Inaugural Midwest Conference — 80+ students from 5+ campuses, our first-ever inter-SSA conference. Speakers from Sikh Coalition, Anandpur Institute, and Navkiran Bhenji. A moment none of us will forget.
    • Professional Development Partnerships — A hackathon, the UTD Sikh Success Panel, an Indiana career panel. Sikh students learning to thrive professionally without leaving their identity behind.
    • Midwest Leadership Retreat — 30+ students, 5 campuses, one full day of learning from USM alumni, professors, and each other. The bonds formed there will carry SSAs forward for years.

This is what your belief built. And honestly? It's just the beginning.

    Here's the Truth 💛

There are 75 active SSAs across the nation. That's 75 communities of Sikh students — some thriving, some just getting started, some one leadership transition away from fading.

Every SSA deserves retreats. Resources. Mentors. Connections. Funding for their events and ideas. A coordinator in their corner who's been where they are and knows how to help them grow.

Right now, we don't have the resources to give every SSA everything they need.

That's what this Vaisakhi campaign is about — closing that gap.

Spring quarter is already in motion: inter-SSA events rolling out across regions, coordinators supporting board transitions so no SSA loses its momentum. But to go further — more regional conferences, more retreats, more grants for student-led initiatives — we need your help.

    You've Already Proven What's Possible
When people like you invest in Sikh students, they don't just survive college — they become the leaders our community needs. They build SSAs that outlast them. They go back and mentor the next generation. They carry Sikhi forward.

That ripple effect? You started it.

This Vaisakhi, we're asking you to keep it going.

Give the Gift of Sangat 🌸

Every dollar goes directly into programming, retreats, resources, and grants for SSAs nationwide. No Sikh student should have to build community alone — and with your support, they won't have to.

Wrapping up the 2024-2025 Academic School Year!

    ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਤਿਹ!

This past 2024-2025 academic year, our SSA Coordination Team - Varleen Kaur (SoCal), Khushmeen Kaur (SoCal), Harkamal Singh (NorCal), Hasmeet Kaur (NorCal), Gurbir Kaur (East Coast), and Abhirup Singh (East Coast) - worked tirelessly to strengthen Sikh Student Associations across the country. From organizing board networking calls to helping new SSA leaders navigate their first events, these coordinators ensured no SSA felt alone in their journey.

Their work helped unify over 30 SSA boards and provide a platform for young Sikh leaders to cross-collaborate and share ideas. They supported event planning on 20+ campuses nationwide by connecting students with influential Sikh speakers, such as parchariks from Basics of Sikhi, and fostered deeper collaboration across regional lines.

As we look ahead, we're excited to expand the program to better serve growing demand and give Coordinators the resources they need to lead effectively. Modest stipends help offset their time, so they can continue showing up consistently for others without financial burden.

Thank you to our Sangat for making this program possible. The future of Sikhi on college campuses is bright and with your continued support, we’ll keep building it together!

    ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਤਿਹ!

    Sikh Students Need You!

    WJKK WJKF,

The SSA Coordination Project supports Sikh Student Associations across the country by providing leadership development, shared resources, and consistent mentorship. Through board retreats, monthly check-ins, and a growing national network, we’re helping SSA leaders strengthen their campus communities and build sustainable structures rooted in Sikhi.

This initiative ensures that Sikh students don’t have to navigate the challenges of running an SSA alone. Whether it’s planning events, resolving internal conflicts, or growing membership, we’re here to guide them every step of the way.

Your donation helps make this possible. Support the future of Sikh leadership by contributing to the stipend for SSA Coordinators today.
