We’re Saving Lives. Help Us Build a Permanent Home.
The Khalsa Community Center (KCC) is the first-ever free Punjabi-Sikh mental health and community center in the United States and for the past two years, we’ve been on the frontlines serving a community that has long been overlooked.
Today, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity.
We have been awarded $6 million from the State of California to build a permanent home for our community.
To access these funds, we must raise a $600,000 match by October.
If we succeed, construction will begin in January and our new center will open by Fall 2026.
From a Small Space to a Life-Saving Movement
We started this work because we saw a critical gap.
Punjabi-Sikh families especially immigrants and asylum seekers were struggling to find culturally competent, affordable mental health care. Language barriers, stigma, and lack of representation kept people from getting the help they needed.
So we created it.
In just two years, KCC has provided:
Free mental health therapy
Substance and alcohol addiction support
Youth tutoring and mentorship
Cultural programs rooted in Punjabi language, Sikhi, and community
And the need has only grown.
Today, we have:
Waitlists of up to 80 people
A 6-month wait for tutoring
Completely full programs and events
Our current space is no longer sustainable. It is small, deteriorating, and limits how many people we can serve. Families are waiting and we simply don’t have room.
A Permanent Home for Our Community
This new center will allow us to expand into three critical pillars:
1. Substance & Alcohol Recovery Support
Substance and alcohol abuse is a growing crisis in the Punjabi community especially in Fresno, which has one of the largest Punjabi populations in California.
Our community has gone decades without culturally competent support. This will change that.
2. Mental Health Therapy
Accessible therapy that understands our language, culture, and lived experiences.
3. Mental Health Outpatient & Crisis Support
A service our community has been asking for for years and one we have not had the capacity to provide until now.
Why This Matters
Other communities have had access to mental health centers, safe spaces, and support systems for decades.
Our community has not.
KCC is changing that by creating a space built for us, by us.
Real Impact, Real Lives
“My life felt like a blur and jumbled before I started coming to KCC. Now every time I leave, my mind feels clear. It started with therapy for my daughter I saw the changes in her, and I began coming too. I never thought I would do something like this because of the stigma. Thank you, KCC.”
This is what your support makes possible.
Why We Need You
We’ve done everything to get to this point.
Land has been identified
Architects, engineers, and planning teams are secured
The $6 million state grant has been awarded
Now, we need our community to help us unlock it.
👉 $600,000 must be raised by October
Every dollar you give brings us closer to a permanent home where no one is turned away.
Sustainability & Long-Term Impact
This isn’t just a building, it’s a long-term, self-sustaining solution.
We are working toward Medi-Cal certification, unlocking over $200,000 annually in funding
The new site will include billboard revenue (~$36,000/year)
Our future mortgage is expected to be lower than our current rent
This means your donation doesn’t just build a center it helps create something that will sustain itself for generations.
What Your Donation Supports
All funds raised will go toward:
Land acquisition (already in progress)
Construction of the new center
Permits, architecture, and engineering
Therapy rooms, classrooms, and community spaces
This Is Bigger Than a Building
This is a safe space.
A sanctuary.
A place where our community can heal, grow, and belong.
This is seva that will outlive us.
Help us build something our community has never had but has always needed.
