Two years ago, in the villages of Panjab, a young girl asked a question that sparked a movement:
“Is there a place where girls like me, who couldn’t finish school, can learn skills to build a better future?”
That question inspired the launch of the first Bibi Bhani Sewing Kender in Batala in 2023. What started as a humble initiative quickly transformed into a hub of learning, empowerment, and economic opportunity for women.
In its first year, the Batala Kender achieved remarkable results:
- Women gained hands-on training in sewing, embroidery, and essential life skills
- 50+ sewing machines were provided, enabling trainees to start home-based businesses
- Many women began earning income, gaining confidence, and uplifting their families
Our first sewing kender showed that structured training and community support can transform lives.
Building on this proven success, SAF International is now expanding the initiative to Tarn Taran, Panjab, where women are waiting for the same opportunity to develop skills, gain confidence, and create sustainable livelihoods.
