Nishkam sees education as an imperative tool for students to realize their potential by learning important skills and setting them up for social and economic empowerment.
Nishkam is directly benefiting many students every year. We raise funds in order to support young professionals in their university and school education in India. Nishkam has sponsored over 1,766 students for their post-secondary education since 2013.
Why do we need your support?
Nishkam is an NGO working towards ensuring that every high achiever student is getting a university education. We have been doing our best to live up to the principles laid out by our Gurus, for the last 38 years of our existence.
We also support school-going children that are in need of assistance for their basic school supplies and other fees.
Even a small donation can make a huge impact and drastically improve the life of a student.
Fundraising Campaign:
A fundraising campaign is an initiative to collect voluntary contributions by working with your friends and family. The funds raised in these campaigns will be used to support students that see education as a way out of their current circumstances.
As a donor, you can choose to help a university-going student, a high school student (Class 11 or Class 12) or a student attending a school that is not in high school yet.
For larger donors, we will set up a term deposit and fund scholarships from the interest on a perpetual basis.
Even a small donation can make a huge impact and drastically improve the life of a student.
All donors will be allotted a child whose details will be shared with them.

Usage of Funds to University Level Students:
The money raised will be awarded as scholarships to:
● Underprivileged Students that secure admission to professional-grade, higher
education courses like Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry and so on.
● Students will be provided with a scholarship on yearly basis, but for the entire
period of course based on their performance in previous year by Nishkam.
● Annual scholarship amount will be limited to Rs. 33,000 (approx. US$ 420)
Scholarships for School going students:
While most state-run schools in India are free for students, parents still have to pay for books, shoes, school uniforms (in some cases) and exam fees in some cases.
For students that are enrolled in Class 10 or lower, there are two scholarship levels:
● Rs 6,000 (US$ 76) per annum if a child scores more than 80% in their exams.
● Rs 4,800 (US$ 61) per annum for all other children.
For students that are enrolled in Class 11 or 12, the scholarship amount is Rs 5,000 per annum (US$ 64).
University Scholarships:
Eligibility criteria:
The candidate should be studying in a recognized Govt. /Private institutions (India only).
● Annual family income should be less than Rs. 2.5 Lakh (~ US $3300).
● At least 60% marks in the previous final examination.
● The Scholarship is open for Punjab and neighbouring states including Delhi/NCR
region as well.
Selection Process:
We conduct a scholarship test on an annual basis and further select the meritorious students through personal interviews and surveys (home visits for financial verifications).
School Scholarships:
Eligibility criteria:
● The candidate should be studying in the Govt. Aided schools.
● Annual family income should be less than Rs. 1.8 Lakh (~US $2400).
● At least 60% marks in the previous final examination.
● The Scholarship is open for Delhi/NCR.
Selection Process:
We conduct a scholarship test on an annual basis and further select the students on merit.
