Sohila, the sacred lullaby by Siri Guru Granth Sahib, is a gift for humanity to help us process, reflect and deal with our emotions.
When we can’t switch off our thoughts and fall asleep, and then manually try to close the files by diverting and deleting memories, it results in a loss of focus and contentment and can lead to dementia and Alzheimer’s. In these conditions it is not only one person going through a painful process, but also their loved ones.
Sometimes solutions are simple, but to understand them, a seeker must follow Guru’s guidance, prescriptions and methods. When Guru Gobind Singh Ji finalized Siri Guru Granth Sahib, he highlighted this composition of Sohila from Guru Arjan Sahib’s compilation. It is sung when the hustle and bustle of the day ends, with all its highs and lows, its discouragements and inspirations; when it’s time to reflect and sensibly bring the senses to neutrality. Sohila is structured in five Sabds by three authors, Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Ramdas Ji and Guru Arjan Sahib, presented in four Raags: Gauree Deepkee, Aasaa, Dhnaasree and Gauree Poorbee. These are finely composed musical moods especially selected to support the process of reflection and falling asleep in a natural and healthy way.
“Sohila - Sweet Nights” has been recorded precisely as per Guru’s instructions following the Raags and pronunciation traditions, while at the same time making it relevant for the world, where the pulse and rhythm of these compositions are set to contribute to the healing sounds for humanity. After a thorough process of research, development and case studies, composition and recording, we are so happy to bring the beautiful results to you in the forms of Sabd and Paatth.
