Directions to Gurdwara Sahib at your fingertips!
Imagine you're going traveling - and you want to visit local Gurdwaras while you are there. Or you are moving, and you want to find out which Gurdwaras you and your family will be close to in your new home country, state, city or neighborhood. Or you would just like to visit as many Gurdwaras as you can and you need a way to find them all.
The Worldwide Gurdwara Directory is going to help with all of these and so much more.
This fundraiser is for phase one, to create a mobile app and web platform for a Worldwide Gurdwara Directory. We will determine which platform will work best for the Sikh sangat worldwide to have a complete directory of Gurdwaras everywhere in the world. Find local Gurdwaras, Gurdwaras when traveling, amenities (such as wheelchair access, langar, etc.) and more.
While there are a long list of ideas for features in the long term, we consider some of the potential features will initially be:
- Gurdwara’s Name, Contact Information
- Address, Integrate with what3words and google maps for exact locations
- opening times
- Telephone numbers, email, web, socials
- Show upcoming events & daily schedules
- Checkins from sangat members
- Upload and manage events
- Show visits and lookups to the gurdwara via the app
- Show their upcoming events
- Live listening
SikhNet has been around for 28+ years, providing the worldwide sangat access to Guruji in a myriad of ways. This new initiative will literally provide directions to the door of every Gurdwara in the world.
