SikhRI’s Annual Meeting 2026 brought our community together for learning, reflection, and shared responsibility.

Rooted in Gurmat, the gathering placed Gurbani at the heart of our conversations—exploring Sikh history, leadership, innovation, and collective stewardship with care and integrity.

Innovation was also part of this reflection. A dedicated session on the My Sikhi Assistant App, guided by Prof. Mohanbir Singh Sawhney and CJ Singh of Sequent, explored how technology can serve Sikh learning ethically and responsibly, rooted in Gurmat rather than novelty.

More than a meeting, it reflected SikhRI’s commitment to thoughtful learning and walking forward together in a complex world.

SikhRI's latest publication - Guru Gobind Singh Sahib: Life, Vision & Wisdom is a landmark work that weaves together literary brilliance, historical insight, visual storytelling, and spiritual depth. Authored by Harinder Singh, at its heart is Sabad Hajare—ten luminous compositions that reveal the Guru’s timeless vision and boundless compassion. The book opens with a foreword by Dr. Nikky-Guninder Kaur Singh, situating the work within a broader philosophical and poetic frame that honors the Guru’s radical vision and enduring relevance. 

Through contemporary translation and commentary, the book draws on the voices of the Guru’s court poets—Bhai Nand Lal Goya and Chandra Sain Sainapati—offering rare glimpses into the Guru’s divine presence and sovereign leadership.

Goya’s emotive testimony and Sainapati’s sweeping historical narrative together bring the Tenth Sovereign to life—the inaugurator of the Khalsa Panth and the one who conferred Guruship upon the Guru Granth Sahib.

Death comes for all of us. Yet we live in a culture that endlessly tries to escape this reality—through our obsession with youth, medical interventions to delay aging, or the way death is sensationalized in popular media.

Ideas from Abrahamic and Indic traditions have also shaped how many Sikhs, especially in the diaspora, think about death and the afterlife.

This webinar invited participants to pause and reflect: What does Sikhi actually say about death? How are we meant to face it, understand it, and live in its awareness? Drawing on translations, commentaries, and insights from The Guru Granth Sahib Project, as well as Sikh history and tradition, the session explored how Gurmat offers a distinct perspective—one that transforms not only our understanding of death, but also our relationship with life itself.

As we approached the 350th anniversary of Guru Teghbahadar Sahib’s Shahidi–martyrdom in 2025, we offered this resource to help elementary and middle school learners reflect on the life, teachings, and legacy of the Ninth Guru. The Guru’s courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to justice continued to guide and inspire Sikhs and others around the world.

This resource invites young minds to gain insight into who Guru Teghbahadar Sahib was and is—through the Guru’s words (sabad), accounts of the Guru’s life, and the principled stands the Guru took to uphold freedom of belief. Each lesson was thoughtfully designed to support age-appropriate reflection, discussion, and personal connection.

In November 2025, we launched our K–8 Gurmat Education Resource — Getting to Know Guru Teghbahadar Sahib.

The Guru Ka Bagh Morcha (1922) was pivotal in Sikh history. It showcased the indomitable spirit of the Sikh community in its pursuit of protecting its heritage and reclaiming control over its sacred spaces. This significant chapter demonstrated the relentless quest for autonomy and identity set against the backdrop of British colonial rule. The Morcha highlighted the power of nonviolent resistance as the Sikhs confronted the exploitation of gurdwaras (Sikh community spaces for reflection and activism) by mahants who prioritized personal gain over community welfare.

As we approached the 100th anniversary of the Guru Ka Bagh Morcha in 2025, we launched this educational resource in remembrance of the Sikhs who stood firm in their faith and resistance. By providing insight into the Morcha’s historical significance and contemporary relevance, the resource ensured that its legacy and lessons would continue to inspire future generations.

In August 2025, we launched our K–12 Gurmat Education Resource — Getting to Know Guru Ka Bagh Morcha — designed for middle and high school students.

Babarvani: Guru Nanak Sahib on War & Tyranny

In Babarvani, Guru Nanak Sahib compels us to confront difficult truths, exploring themes of suffering, loss, corruption, responsibility, the fleeting nature of wealth, and justice. These sabads have profoundly shaped Sikh thought, influencing perspectives on governance, societal duty, and ethical leadership. At the same time, they offer powerful insights into the consequences of losing one’s connection to IkOankar—both individually and collectively.

Through this course, we reflected on the relevance of Babarvani, revealed 500 years ago in Eminabad, and its enduring message for us today.
